Giving

The Old and New Testaments teach us about giving, without mention of standing orders or gift aid!  Instead we encounter a people who honoured God with the first and best – as Abraham and later the Israel’s law describe the practice of giving the first 10% of what we have as a tithe to God.  Later in Acts and in Paul’s letters we find the people of early churches giving joyfully, generously, obediently, sacrificially, expectantly, freely, regularly.  Jesus got the heart of the matter, saying – “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

As in every aspect of our life and ministry, St Thomas’s finances run on the generous giving of those within the congregation.  Your giving enables and resources every expression of the life and mission of STK, as well as covering our bills and expenses like every household.  So we give thanks for your gifts and for the ministry that it enables!

In the autumn months of 2020 we will be sharing the financial position and vision at St Thomas’s, and taking the opportunity to renew our giving.  Each of us can ask the Lord how we can give financially as part of St Thomas’s.  This may be the opportunity to begin a regular pattern of giving, or to review and increase the amount we can contribute to the life and work of our church.

Thank you for choosing to exercise faith and generosity in your financial commitment to our life at St Thomas’s, and giving your hearts to the vision and opportunities God has for this wonderful church family to share Jesus!

If you wish to make a one-off gift to St Thomas’s, or begin regular giving please feel free to email the Treasurer on admin@stkmail.org.uk

Your gift will be marked as a donation to the Diocese of Carlisle who will relay the funds directly to St Thomas' Kendal.
